big let down for a Billion

It was friday,23rd march. For a cricket fan of my sorts, this day is of enormous significance,it is the final chance for team India to keep our hopes alive. All the day, sitting in office, i couldnt deliver my best either, and was waiting for the match to begin.I left early (for my time frame) at 7 for home,to watch the likes of a final for India.

Bowling was tight and good, and so was the fielding,it was surprise and happiness to see our players saving few runs on the field..all bowlers have performed well...bhajji could have done better for that kind of a pitch, but however we were succeful in restricting them to what has become a chasable target nowadays( after SA chased 434 by Aus for a record victory n recent winning chases by India)..

We were even reluctant to go out for dinner n had ordered for a parcel..

India batting has come, and we had pretty good start..but Utthapa was hell bent on throwin away his wicket that every time he was hitting hard on to fielders hands..Mutthaya has given him a life but still he didnt get ny lesson..got out by hitting the ball straight into arms of Vaas who made no mistake...
This was a clear mistake and the beginning of the fiasco, we needed a very good opening partnership!!
the way sourav and sachin got out can only bring shame for the experience and the run statistics they have behind them..

YUvrajs runout was a mess too..n Dhonis LBW was the cheapest!!!!

GOne were all my hopes, wondered if this is what i had waited for(all the time in office--).. is this how a team which boasts of its batting maestros performs ?? shattered were the billion people..this is the only game,we put our blood and soul in...but this is definitely not what we expect in return!!

student to a Teacher

I recently read a book called " tuesdays with morris" by Mitch Albom. The book was very moving n touchy...Albom beautifully narrates the bond he shares, the wisdom he gained from his beloved proffesor and mentor Morrie Schwartz.

Morrie was the favourite teacher of Albom at college, he is actually more a friend than a teacher. Even though,Albom promises to stay in touch with Morrie on his last day at his coll, he somehow falls in the same trap of work, work n career n fails to come out of that vicious circle. Its only after twenty years, when he watches his best teacher giving advise on self help and positive attitude( towards death n stuff) on television, he decides to meet his long lost best friend to begin his second phase of learning.

Well the book is good with some inspiring and motivating facts about life, family, emotions, fear of death n aging, culture ,forgiveness etc.. read the book to know more..

Now coming to the Point, what i learnt from the book and found missing in our generation, is existence of such a bond between a teacher and a student. Let me tell you my own story itself at college.

I do not think i really was in such a close rapport with any of my teachers, forget about life after college hours, there was hardly any communication or interaction with any of the teachers even during college hours. This was not the case just with me but with 90% of the class.
If at all, anyone used to talk to them, or ask them doubts, it was only the firstbenchers, well i myself used to comment them, that they are buttering the teachers for some advantage they seek...And just like i used to think and comment, every other person did the same too..n that pulled me away from talking to ny of the lecturers..well you might be thinking, what this guy
is talkin, on one hand says that he commented and made fun of those first benchers for over talkin to teachers, and now on the other hand is blaming his friends for himself not doing the same...
Frankly speaking, when you are attentive in class, asking a good teacher doubts n all, and after the class if the teacher talks to you for some reason assuming you to be bright, it would be dumb n stupid not to reciprocate...no matter what everyone around you teases you for that..

If we see, what can be the reason for such an attitude of students, you will find mistake is both students' and teachers' and also the college culture (seniors + management + Dept +infrastructure)..

The very first day you enter the
college, you hear trite remarks from ur seniors about some teachers ability, knowledge and comments on his demeanour..and you cant help listening to them and making an impression.

Yeah, sometimes the teacher him/herself is really not knowledgable, and such a person starts making hostility towards students as a shield to cover his/her own vulnerabilites.Students really get pissed with such teachers, initially will try to irritate the lecturer somehow, many a times the latter succumbs to the mishief n naughtiness of the class, or if he/she is formidable, the students start showing disinterest in class, because they neither can have fun nor can learn anything. 80% of the cases belong to one of the categories..either teacher or the class becoming the MASTER...the result no interaction or relationship but only INDIFFERENCE towards each other.

Third and an equal contributor, is the case where there will be few (some 2-3) leaders (so called) in the class, who are hell bent on influencing every one around them to take up, follow and even preach the same opinions that they have, those opinions which are formed either long long before --when they only meet with despair wherever they go( nursery to school-their life everything) or when their dreams get shattered--this happens when they come to a college with so much hope and so many dreams but only find the REDTAPISM of mgmt and faculty to slowly shatter everything up.. (this holds good to a
great extent in college i studied)

And the last but not the least, is a combination or any of two factors, SHYness in the students and EGO in the teachers. Both of them think the other is not worth talking to. The result, a catastrophic drift towards opposite ends,a sort of cold war..sometimes, ppl even blow their fuses off..
What should be done:
1. A teachers duty is not just to take attendance, finish off the syllabus but also should find out personally if a student is
feeling bold enough to come out and talk to him/her, ask any doubts if exist.. Time to time non academic discussions between
faculty and the pupils can really diminish the problem.
2. A student should have 100% faith and trust in his/her teacher. No matter, if the teacher is knowledgeable or not, he
should learn to love him.. Well it may not be just the subject, but there are many other things that a teachers experience
can teach you.
3.The management should sincerely make an effort to make itself more available to its student fraternity ,and should always
see that there exists an air of satisfaction and trust between teachers and the students. Should organise games, and informal
meets to bring them more closer.
4.Finally and very important, from the primary school itself, a student should be taught to respect his teacher.

CANNABALISM...inhumanity in humans..my take on the NOIDA deatht toll

SHOCKED!!!!

height of insanity...

The last of week of december 2006,i decided to take a break from my hectic office schedule to relax back home in Hyd. I dont have TV access in bangalore and dont find time even to read a newspaper...though i felt isolated from the so called connected world ...and being in the one of the most wired cities in the world..BLR.. i realised i was still lucky for i am not punished to read the manmade insane catastrophies...Yes that is what i would like to call them...

The second day at my home in hyd, i was watching news channels (naturally my quest to know be know everything that is happening around) and there appears flash news no...no...bizzaring news about the skeletal remains of Children in city of nithari in Noida...

As the mystery unfolded...and the news came...i was crestfallen ...shattered for once was this so called civilized world before my eyes...those ppl would have not existed even in the stone age...

How can someone (a married person with two children n a wife) be so animose, wild and scary??

and the hapless innocent kids who fall victim to them...

What can be done to make this world free of those cannibals?? maneaters???

Schumacher---My hero

No one is born a winner...

Very few end up being one,

you may become one overnite

there may be many building factors for success,

but none among them can be more crucial than PASSION....

PASSION in what you do,how you do is all that matters...

n Michael Schumacher, seven time grand prix champion has loads of it....yes Passion for racing..

Its not you are number one or number two but the love for things you do...

the way he gave a stiff fight to his rivals is best example..he didnt fade away or exited thru a side door as it happened with stars who shined for while..

he has put his blood and soul in every race he took part in..thats only possible when you have that fire within you...fire to achieve and excel in what you think you r born for..

that is not even built...but you find it in your natural way of living...you will definitely confront something which seems to be the life...the soul cause...n thats how passion develops....

n thats what has happened with this 37 yr old star some 15 years ago which made a F1 racer out of automobile mechanic...n if you have that luv for things you do,u will respect everyone around you involved in those things..no matter how big a winner u r ,u remain to b down to earth n u feel its not just you but every support person around thats responsible for what you currently are..

KUDOS to you Schumi...u r my superstar

TECHredible India

The forward i got from one of my frenz inspired me to make this post..It showed India emerging as Land of marvelous constructions.Well, if you think India's architectural wonders ended with Tajmahal or Charminar, you are definitely wrong.

Thanx to the so called IT money, the builders in India are leaving no stone unturned in making spectacular constructions...the Iflex buildings (next to TI office)in Bagmane techpark,Bangalore are epitomes of space optimized landmarks..

The Infosys tech park in Mysore, the Mall of India by DLF in Gurgaon,The TCS office in Chennai,The freely suspending sea link between worli n juhu in mumbai and the flamboyant Malya's twin towers in Bangalore are more than a proof that the civil engineering in India has been on a major revamp when no one noticed...the beauty of these constuctions is that they have their own Indianity in them...

The facilities available today in the Corporate offices in India are surely worldclass..The care that has been taken right from firesafety toelectronic surveillance is absolutely mindblowing..

LONG LIVE MY BELOVED INDIA

Bhargav--Now a design engineer

Hi folks

Its been a long time that i posted..the only resaon...any guesses??

well the sole n the only reason is LAZINESS...

i have been procastinating blogging for some time now.well but the recent hues n crys against the blogging community because allegedly the recent mumbai bomb blast were abetted thru some communication via blogs..

The secret agencies(govt) say that unlike mails n messenger systems in which every conversation can b tracked, blogs remain untrackable n thus make a safe way to communicate for the terrorists..

well before any stringent actions are taken and blogging becomes a neanderthal activity..its high time we as bloggers should take care that our blogs by any means dont become a mode of communication for those maniacal abettors..

Well now that i am no more a student and am working ..i feel myself more responsible and would like to convey that security is something which is everyone's concern..

Hi

It's been a month since i made the last post. Last month was hectic as much as it was happening. They were my last days in college. By may5th we were kinda free birds as our final exams got finished...then started the season of farewell...fueled by emotions n nostalgia abt the place where we made friends of our lifetimes..suddenly i realised thou four years passed by very quickly it is a long duration of time, enuf to change one's career, interests and the very self...yes the metamorphosis is more rampant if u r a boarding student.

Living a hostel life teaches many precious principles of life which dont find place in any book. They need to be experienced to be understood...those rules of the game are written by oneself according to the other team players and the goal (the very aim/ambition).

My engineering life influenced me a lot and i am greatful that place BIT,Mesra where a new individual started his saga in me..

16th consecutive succesful chase

It is delightful to see the Indian cricket team batting thesedays, especially its depth. The credit goes to talented pool of young cricketers like Dhoni,Yuvraj,Raina,Pawar and one more chip in the block Uthappa.
These youngsters are completely different from their seniors, they are aggressive as well as sensible. The best part is they are thinking cricketers with exceptional ability to bat under any kind of situation. The way Dhoni batted in the last match at Jamshedpur is clear example of it.If we observe, these days the first 3 or 4 wickets fall quickly and it is the 4th n 5th down batsmen who are providing a backbone partnership.

Now in the form of Robin Uthappa, an adept opener is available to the team India. He batted excellently in his debut match and will definitely threaten the positions of Sehwag and Sachin as openers if they continue their poor form.Sreesanth came back well too with 6 wicket haul. But still India's bowling attack cannot be called dangerous because it lacks pacers who can consistently take wickets.
Lets hope any such gaps are filled quickly by the time the 2007 world cup begins.

Unscrupulous reservation policy!!

It can't get worse!!

The Arjun Mandal raised the current reservation in central and govt. funded institutes to
49.5 percent. The worst part is that it applies to the premier institutes like IITs and IIMs aswell.
And all this came at a moment when everyone is thinking that our economy is booming and our country shining. The politicians should answer themselves if this is really going to benefit people who live in remote areas??It is always those who doesnt really need any resrvation as such get benifitted by these. And also with reference to my post, regarding deficit in talented technical pool,it only makes the problem much worse.
Few excerpts:

1.The present quota for the scheduled tribes and scheduled castes in IITs doesnt get filled every year and that is the reason they are offered preparatory course.

2.The first rank in SC/ST category in year 2002(the year i wrote JEE) was equivalent to 2005 in general category.

3.It happened in Andhra Pradesh that students who got negative marks in engg entrance exam(EAMCET) also happened to get good seats in engg colleges and that disgrace ultimately led to the removal of negative marks.
The same case happened in AIEEE as well when students who got (-7) and (-6) marks happened to get ECE seats.

4.These kind of reservations only led to great deficit in Indian economy in 1991 and the then Manmohan singh(I dunno why he is still sleeping now) govt had to take strict actions..when our country was literally living by selling its gold reserves.

5.Such kind of reservations will result in hatred and will increase the disparities between forward and backward cast people in the working place as well as in colleges.Students obviously feel they are denied better chances and there would always exist a mismatch between the technical prowessws they got in them.

these are just few and more will be added very soon...

but still
I love my India

But still these people are not contended with themselves. They still want more money, more positions. They are reluctant to leave other offices of profit they hold.
First of all, they should comit themselves to people, carry out the responsibilities they bear on their shoulders, fulfil the hopes the junta that elected them kept on them.

THey themselves shud quit before they face the humiliation irrespective of how reputed families, they come from.

A matter of concern

Software companies start recruiting commerce graduates!!

Well, the recent version of the BW (27thfeb) says that there is a trend of large hike in salaries goin on in software industry. It is definitely a welcome news for all of us into the industry, but it is shocking to know the reason behind it.The article says that there is a serious deficit in skilled professionals and hence an increasing demand for the exisitng ones.
This definitely is going to have a long term negative effect.
So i would welcome comments and suggestions from all of u to face this problem and want to come out with solutions.

What is the right time to start a new company?

hello frenz
well i was in this dilemma at some point of time..and today few of my juniors are in...
every1 of us at some stage must have thought of starting a new firm. Now the problem is when u r in a professional course. Is it advisable to start it as soon as u pass out or go ahead for ur post graduate studies so that it will help u carry out additional research that is required on the ventures u wud set out with??
The 2nd debatable issue is "Is MBA or MS gud for leading a technical company?"
What i feel is, we dont need an MBA degree, but rather a grip on the subject +sum experience

What do u guyz say?shud i advise my juniors to start working on setting up their dream company or shud i advise them to continue their studies??
and yet again..ur opnion matters...

Which path to choose???

Last week i watched the movie Rang De Basanti.
I loved the way the movie was presented. The transformation of the youngsters with carefree attitude to the martyrs was shown brilliantly.
But however the path chosen is a debatable issue!!(Killing of the defence minister and patricide by karan(Siddarth) )
How many of us would really support such an agitation?
